Fir, Douglas, Quartered Backing Boards -   6” to 10”wide x 8’ to14’ long.  These are a by-product from the production of veneer.  The thickness varies from 9/16” to 11/16”.  All fine straight grain.  Ideal drawer side stock.

1” Cumaru, – 24” to 35” wide x 8 ft. to 14 ft. long.  Sometimes called Brazilian teak but no botanical relationship.  Very hard and very durable.  Fine grain with a pale orange colour and some darker veining.  This stock is extremely flat and very well manufactured.

1” Clear Pine, – 14” to 16” wide x 8 ft. to 16 ft. long.  Top grade clear pine..

1-1/2” Maple, Birdseye – 4” to 10” wide x 6 ft. to 10 ft. long.  Excellent white colour with medium to high birdseye figure.

2” Limba, – 7” to 10” wide x 10 ft. to 11 ft. long.  A favoured wood for the solid body guitar maker.  Similar density to South American mahogany.  Pale yellow to straw yellow. 

3” Mahogany, S.A.* Pattern Grade – 9” to 20” wide x 12 ft. long.  Straight grain.  As good as mahogany gets.

 *Due to the listing of Swietenia macrophylla (Tropical/South American Mahogany) on C.I.T.E.S Appendix 2 (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) it is impractical to ship this into the U.S.A. in small quanties because of the paperwork, and permit fees associated with all C.I.T.E.S. shipme

FLITCH CUT DOMESTIC LOGS

We have recently sawn several logs to add to our growing inventory of flitch cut stock.  The thicknesses vary from 2” to 2-1/2” and the widths are up to 30”.  New species on hand include Cherry, Walnut, Chinese Elm, Willow, Maple, and White Oak.  Please inquire as to pricing and further details relating to plank thickness, width and length.

Sapele Pomele – 12” to 16” wide x 12 ft. long.  Classic Sapele colour with an even distribution of small and medium blister figure.

Tineo – 5” to 12” wide x 9 ft. to 11 ft. long.  Rose through burnt orange with irregular black lines.  A very distinctive looking veneer.

Ebony, Macassar – 4” to 7-3/4” wide x 11 ft. to 12 ft. long.  An excellent example of an increasingly rare veneer, especially in these dimensions.  A high contrast straight stripe makes this a very dramatic veneer.

Maple, Birdseye – 6” to 10” x 12 ft. long.  An unusual find and well priced.  This log was expected to be plain white maple but turned out to be Birdseye.  Very white and long for Birdseye but not wide as it was flat sliced and not rotary cut.  Excellent distribution of classic birdseye figure.

SQUARES, BURLS and BLOCKS, Air Drying                   

Walnut Squares, Figured– 2”+ x 2-1/4 to 3” x 11” to 13” long.  This unusual inventory, over 50 years old, is from a closed gunstock manufacturing facility in the U.S.  The primary figure is crotch feather and some curl.  We are offering them in quantities at much reduced prices and consequently cannot allow customer selection in bulk purchases.

Rosewood, Indonesian Waxed Blocks – Square four sides – no defects.

Maple, Big Leaf Burl Caps - 2 to 188 lbs. Burl Caps.  Good to excellent selection of burl figure.  Some of the larger burls will be sawn into slabs for decorative work.
